Calaveras Supes Give Early Nod To Forming Vector District
San Andreas, CA — A preliminary nod of approval was given Tuesday to the formation of a Mosquito and Vector Control District.
Tuesday the Board of Supervisors was given an update on the mosquito and vector control program and directed staff to study forming a district.
Environmental Management Agency Director Brian Moss says he will pursue the feasibility of hiring a consultant to come up with what the district would look like.
Programs could not continue at their current levels unless the county steps in to help because substantial state funding will be lost this year.
Public Health Director Colleen Tracy says the mosquito spray program played a part in the decline of West Nile Virus cases in Calaveras County last year.
