Columbia, CA — Night classes will continue to run as scheduled tonight at Columbia College.

That, according to spokesperson Nick Stavrianoudakis. Four “pipe bomb devices” were found on campus this afternoon between the dormitories and motorcycle parking area. Stavrianoudakis says the area around the bomb devices has been quarantined, and they are not believed to be a threat to students.

Stavrianoudakis adds that it was gardeners who spotted the items in question. He says it appears the items may have been there for about one year. On scene tonight are members of the Calaveras County Special Bombs Unit, Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, Tuolumne County Fire and the Department of Forestry.

Stavrianoudakis says the plan is to detonate the bomb devices later this evening. The exact time has not been decided.
