Read Across America Comes To Tuolumne County
Columbia, CA — Read Across America, a day to celebrate the writings of Dr. Seuss, spent Friday in Tuolumne County.
It´s an opportunity for adults to read a story to childen and encourage them to read as often as possible.
Locally Sonora Police Chief Mace McIntosh and Tuolumne County Sheriff-Coroner Jim Mele accepted Superintendent of School Joe Silva´s invitation to read to youngsters.
In addition, KVML News Director Bill Johnson was invited by Columbia Elementary first grade teacher Ali Silva to read to her class. So all the kids headed for a rug in the corner to listen to a Dr. Suess presentation.
Ms. Silva put it this way, “They´ve heard the story a number of times, but they always love to hear it again.” So kids really will be kids!
