Bypass Funding Headed For The Mother Lode

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The California Transportation Commission has approved $21.6 million in funding for two Mother Lode projects.

There´s both good and bad news when it comes to the proposed Hwy 108 bypass extension. This week the C.T.C. approved $17.2 million for a two mile stretch of roadway that will run from the deadend at Peaceful Oak Rd. to Via Este. An additional $13 million for the project will hopefully be funded next month. That´s the good news … the bad news; the project will not start for another three years.

In addition the Transportation Commission approved $4.4 million for the Angels bypass. The two-and-a-half mile stretch will allow motorists to bypass the downtown area. The roadway will start near the Frog Jump Plaza on Hwy 49 and proceed over Murphys Grade along the Rolleri Bypass and then intersect with Hwy 4 east of Rolleri.

All the funding comes from the $19.9 billion Proposition 1B that was passed by the voters in November.
