N.W.S. Upgrades To Winter Storm “Warning” For Sierra
Sacramento, CA — A “Winter Storm Watch” issued by the National Weather Service for the Sierra has now been upgraded to a “Warning.”
It will go into effect at 6am Saturday, and continue until 10am Sunday.
A weather disturbance is expected to bring lower elevation rain and higher elevation snow. Snow levels should remain at around 8000 ft. through Saturday evening, and then fall to around 6000 ft.
At elevations above 8000 ft., snow accumulations may approach 4 ft.
In addition, the National Weather Service says southwest winds gusting over 40 mph could cause considerable blowing and drifting of snow.
