Sheriff’s Department To Detail $250,000 Meth Grant
Sonora, CA — This morning at eleven o´clock, the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department will detail, at a press conference, how it will utilize a $250,000 grant to fight the growing methamphetamine epidemic in the Mother Lode.
$29 million was distributed statewide for the California Multi-Juristictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team program. In addition to the Tuolumne County grant, Calaveras County received $295,000. More than 40% of the total amount went to central valley counties.
According to Lt. Dan Bressler of the Sheriff´s Department, a portion of the funds will be used to bring a member of the Sonora Police Department on board with the Sheriff Department´s Narcotics Team.
Attending the press conference will be Sheriff Jim Mele and Sonora Police Chief Mace McIntosh.
