Builders Unite To Revamp Calaveras Building Department

San Andreas, CA — A group of builders convened at the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday to protest the condition of the Building Department.
Mike Borean, president of the Calaveras County Builders Association, spoke on behalf of his organization and the nearly 20 builders on hand.
He says the difficulty of getting plans through the permitting process is reducing the construction volume in the county.
He cited the use of out of town plan check consultants and policy changes as the cause of the difficulty.
The board responded by saying that many of the concerns had merit and would be worked on.
Also, an audit of the Building Department is currently underway.
