Sonora, CA — 41 year old Gregory Hartsgrove of Manteca was not only involved in a serious automobile accident Monday afternoon … he was arrested for driving-under-the-influence.
Hartsgrove was headed southbound on Lime Kiln Rd. As he proceeded south past the intersection of Campo Seco Rd., he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to negotiate the shallow lefthand curve to the south of the intersection. The 1988 Ford Mustang slid sideways off the east roadway edge and impacted a P.G.& E. power pole with its right side door.
The force of the impact pinned the passenger, a 16 year old Sonora youth, in his seat. E.M.S. personnel had to extricate him from the vehicle. Both were airlifted to Modesto after initial treatment at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
Hartsgrove suffered serious head injuries and was subsequently arrested for felony D.U.I. The passenger was reported to be in critical condition with head injuries and pelvic fractures.
