Accident Closes Murphys Grade Tuesday
Angels Camp, CA — An accident involving two trucks and one motorcycle shut down Murphys Grade Road Tuesday afternoon while a helicopter was landed.
The CHP says 48-year old Darrell Pohl Jr. of Arnold was approaching slow traffic in a construction zone but did not stop in time. Pohl´s 1994 Chevrolet pickup struck the rear of a motorcycle driven by 70-year old Fred Williams of Murphys. That drove Williams into the back of a 1986 Ford pickup driven by 86-year old Charles Muth of Murphys.
Williams sustained a fractured left leg and pain to his back and neck. He was airlifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto. His motorcycle received major damage while the trucks were moderately damaged.
Mr. Pohl was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital for complaints of pain to his neck.
