Sheriff’s Department Warns Of Credit Card Fraud

San Andreas, CA — Be careful of who you give your credit card information to as the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department says that an increasing number of fraud cases have been reported recently.

Sgt. Dave Seawell says that many residents have been receiving phone calls from scam artists posing as employees of credit card companies or financial institutions.

Seawell warns that credit card companies do not initiate calls or emails requesting that customers update or verify credit card information, and the information should only be given out if you contact the institution directly.

The Sheriff´s Office advises everyone to do business with reputable companies that you are familiar with, don´t give credit cards to someone else on your behalf, and check your bills carefully each month.
