Sonora, CA — 28 year old Jose Angel Rodriquez of Modesto was arrested following a bat wielding incident near the Ross Dress For Less store in the Timber Hills Shopping Center late Tuesday afternoon.

Rodriquez was employed at the store and had asked his manager if he could be excused as soon as Lee Freitas of Sonora entered the store. The two had a troubled history.

Rodriguez exited the store and joined 32 year old Kelly Sundborg also of Modesto. As soon as Freitas and his girlfriend, Amy Alves of Copperopolis, exited the store they were confronted by Rodriguez and Sundborg.

Sunborg took a baseball bat from her car and struck Alves in the leg. She then handed the bat to Rodriguez who struck Freitas in the leg. Freitas wrestled Rodriguez to the ground and took the bat from him. Several witnesses then intervened to bring a halt to the confrontation.

Rodriguez and Sundborg then left the scene but the former was contacted later and arrested by Sonora Police officers and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. Sundborg remains at large.

Should you have any infomation regarding Sundborg contact the Sonora Police Department at (209) 532-8141.
