Adult Day Health Care Headed To Private Sector

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County is planning to begin transitioning its Adult Day Healthcare unit over to the private sector next month.

On Tuesday the Supervisors voted to begin a transition process on January 31 of next year and be completely out of Adult Day Healthcare business by February 1, 2010.

The County is currently in negotiations with Sonora based Seniority Life Care at Home who is interested in taking over the services. Speaking on behalf of the organization at Tuesday´s Supervisors meeting was Dr. Bob Uslander, who said, ?We have a vision of the Adult Day Healthcare growing, thriving and becoming something that everyone in this room can be very proud of.?

County staff has been directed to return to the Board in January with a negotiated contract to be voted upon. Tuolumne County is bracing to lose $217,000 for fiscal year 2008/09, $68,000 for 2009/10 and $0 by 2010/11 when the County has completely turned ADHC over to the private sector.
