Stinson To Assume Sonora Police Department Leadership Role

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — In less than an hour Lt. Mark Stinson will assume the leadership of the Sonora Police Department.

Stinson will take over for the retiring Mace McIntosh who has spent the last four and a half years as Sonora´s “top cop.”

The official ceremony and swearing in will take place at the Sonora City Council meeting this evening at five o´clock. Stinson´s parents from Redding will be in attendance.

Stinson was unanimously approved for the position because of his extensive educational background, his keen interest in technology and because he was the only candidate from within the Department.

Mayor Ron Stearn noted the city could have looked outside the Mother Lode but Stinson met all the qualifications the counsel was seeking in a replacement for McIntosh. City Administrator Greg Applegate predicted it would be a seemless transition because the two have worked together not only in Sonora but also with the Red Bluff Police Department.

Stinson and McIntosh will work closely together during a two week transition period and then the latter will say farewell to the S.P.D.
