Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Assisting With Bomb Threat

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — According to Sgt. Dave Seawell of the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department several canine units from the Sacramento County Sheriff´s Office are now assisting in locating a potential explosive device in a vehicle near the Government Center on Mountain Ranch Rd.

At 9:32am a caller stated that a bomb would explode at 10:30 … that didn´t happen. The caller did not state his motivation for placing the bomb or its exact location.

In addition to the canine units the Sheriff´s Department Bomb Squad and patrol officers are continuing their search.

The Government Center Building was evacuated with all employees directed to the nearby library.

Seawell adds that it would be helpful if motorists minimize the use of Mountain Ranch Rd. until the incident has been closed.

A pipe bomb was detonated at the Government Center in June of 2003 damaging the building.
