Summerville Bears Headed For Second Season Play
Tuolumne, CA — With a season record of 6-3 the Summerville High Bears are headed for the playoffs for the first time in seven years.
Under fourth year Head Coach Ben Watson the Bears will meet high powered Central Catholic Friday evening in Modesto in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship playoffs. The Bears finished Mother Lode League play with a 3-2 record.
Watson readily admits there´s an air of excitement in the community and on campus.
On the field Watson feels his Bears can move the ball either on the ground or through the air. While the Bears may be the smallest team in the league Watson says strength comes from Summerville´s quickness.
Watson says that in his 21 years on the Tuolumne campus he can never remember the Bears meeting the Raiders.
The Friday evening playoff contest will be aired at 7:15 on Today´s County 93.5 KKBN with Guy Dossi handling the play-by-play and Jeremy Hurtado the color.
