Vickos Station Struck By Early Morning Fire
Sonora, CA — According to CAL Fire Investigator Rommie Jones it was an errant cigarette butt that caused an early morning fire at Vickos Station at 260 Mono Way.
City of Sonora Fire Chief Mike Barrows stated the first alarm sounded at 2:32am. Crews from Sonora City Fire, CAL Fire and Columbia responded to the fire that was limited to the upper deck. Damage was considered minimal as the fire did not extend to the structure´s interior.
Initial reports indicate six individuals were inside the building when the fire started. Two of the six were immediatly evacuated. There were no serious injuries.
At 4:45am Barrows was waiting on the local Red Cross chapter to care for one of the individuals displaced by the fire. No injuries to firefighters were reported.
