San Andreas Woman Will Not Be Charged For Murder Of Husband

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, Ca — Calaveras County District Attorney Jeff Tuttle announced Thursday that his office will not file charges against Tammy Jean Ham for the death of her husband, John Ham.

After an exhaustive two-year investigation and consideration of all the known facts, the DA´s office has concluded that it cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the wife acted without justifiable cause.

The husband was shot by his wife at their San Andreas area home on June 25, 2006. District Attorney Jeff Tuttle cites a history of abuse by John Ham, an illness he had that has physical and psychological symptoms, a presence of toxins in his body, and the fact that he was shot twice with a .22 rifle, once on the left side of his back and again on the right side.

The D.A.´s Office says that the husband made death threats to the wife, and she believed that he was going to get a gun from his vehicle to shoot her. A gun was found in Mr. Ham´s vehicle, and the wounds and position of the body are consistent with Mr. Ham leaving the house to go to his vehicle.
