Scaled Down Mountain Springs Project Headed To Planning Commission

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — An alternative proposal that will reduce the Mt. Springs Community Project from 897 to 600 homes will go to the Tuolumne County Planning Commission and then back to the Board of Supervisors for a vote.

Developer Ron Kopf discussed the proposal before the Supervisors this afternoon, and said that the revised proposal also reduces the amount of Ag land that will be affected. The prior proposal called for a pair of forty acre parcels to remain in the southwest corner of the property. The new plan calls for an additional two parcels, 40 acres in size.

The amount of affordable housing included in the project will remain at 10 percent.

The alternative proposal came after weeks of negotiations between many of the opponents of the project and the developers.
