Administrative EIR For Sonora Lowe’s Will Soon Be Finalized

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — The Administrative Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Sonora Lowe´s project will soon be available for public viewing.

?City staff, California Gold, Lowe´s, and our consultant are doing the final fine tuning,? says City Administrator Greg Applegate. ?It would be our hope that it could be released to the public within the next week-or-two.?

Applegate says the EIR would then be taken up by the Sonora Planning Commission, likely sometime next month.

If it is approved, and everything continues on course, the contractors could get the go ahead to begin construction shortly after the first of the year.

In the meantime, Applegate adds that a settlement agreement between the City, Lowe´s, California Gold and Citizens for Responsible Growth could be finalized within the next couple of weeks regarding a recent decision by Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

?We´re looking at a settlement with the Citizens for Responsible Growth, but the terms of that settlement are not public yet because they are still being worked upon by the parties,? says Applegate.

The Lowe´s Home Improvement Center would be located on Old Wards Ferry Rd.
