TuCare Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Tucare is celebrating its 20th anniversary and although many local residents have heard of it, not everyone knows exactly what TuCare does. TuCare President, Mike Albrecht was Wednesday´s KVML Newsmaker.

Albrecht said, “The Tuolumne County Alliance for Resources and the Environment (TuCare) was established to enlighten and advise the public on conservation and the wise use of our local natural resources.”

TuCare is involved in issues related to public and private lands usage which TuCARE feels is essential for a vital and functioning local, and state economy and the organization has provided various educational programs to school children which at times includes hands-on field trips.

An annual event for TuCare is the “Natural Resource Summit and Tour” which is open to the general public. The Summit will run from 8:30am to Noon at the Elks Lodge on Friday October 17th. California Senate Minority leadeer Dave Cogdill will attend and the focus of this years summit is the affects of fire on both the environment and the economy. A tour of several natural resource sites follows.
