Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — 19 year old Rahru Walker, Jr. drowned in 20 to 30 feet of water at Lake Comanche Saturday afternoon shortly after 1pm.

Sgt. Dave Seawell of the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department stated that the Stockton resident, on a retreat with a church group, was attempting to swim a lengthy portion of the lake and failed to make it to shore. Seawell added that Walker was not an accomplished swimmer.

The Calaveras Sheriff´s Marine Safety Unit and Dive Team were called in at 1:30pm but failed to retrieve the body. The search resumed at 8am Sunday. An hour and 40 minutes later Walker´s body was found.

Walker´s drowning marks the third this year at Lake Commanche. The other two occured in June.
