Silver Creek Fire Spreads To 200 Acres

Toyaibe National Forest, CA — The Silver Creek Fire, started by a Sunday 4:30pm lightning strike, has now spread to 200 acres.

Current containment is listed at but five percent.

The fire is located northwest of Hwy 108 near the Pickle Meadows Marine Corp Mountain Warfare Training Center in the Humboldt-Toyaibe National Forest.

Resources on scene include 175 personnel including two 20 person hand crews. In addition there are eight engines, seven air tankers, three helicopters and one air attack plane.

Hwy 108 was closed between Kennedy Meadows and Hwy 395 from 8:15pm Sunday until 9am this morning. Another closure could be ordered given the amount of smoke from this fire.
