Slawinsky Brothers Set For Sentencing Today

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Robert Earl Slawinsky and his brother, Paul Curtis Slawinsky, are scheduled to be sentenced at 3:30pm today in Department One of Superior Court on the plea bargain charge of voluntary manslaughter resulting in the death of Carl Stephen Knight.

The brothers were involved in a fight with Knight on April 6th at a Jamestown residence and while the Slawinskys have admitted disposing of the body it has never been found, hence the plea bargain reached July 1. John Hanson has served as the prosecuting attorney.

An extensive search for Knight has been conducted in the Lake Don Pedro area by the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Office and out-of-county agencies but to no avail. Knight´s mother, Debra Knight, also hired a private firm to search for her son´s body.

According to Presiding Judge Eric DuTemple the brothers could be sentenced from three to eleven years in prison and they would have to serve 85 percent of any sentence they receive.
