Vehicle Burglaries Peak During Holiday Weekend
Strawberry, Ca — The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department is investigating a high number of vehicle burglaries occurring between Sunday night and Monday morning between the areas of Soulsbyville and Cold Springs/Strawberry.
According to the Sheriff´s Department, between 10-15 were reported, and there were likely many more that went unreported.
“Over the holidays we get a lot of people vacationing up here, and sometimes they aren´t as diligent about locking their cars up,” says Lt. Dan Bressler. “We have people who are taking advantage of that, and stealing a lot of items.”
Some of the cars were locked, and in those cases rocks were thrown through the windows to allow the suspect/suspects access to the valuables. Bressler encourages citizens to take valuables out of the car if it is going to be parked overnight. It is also a good idea to leave a vehicle in a well lit area.
No arrests have been made in connection with the burglaries.
