Sonora, CA — Arson was the cause of the Saturday morning fire at 639 Pauline Ct. off Delnero Drive.
Sonora Fire Chief Mike Barrows says accellerants were discoverd at the end of Building J that is occupied by two tenants. Barrows adds that this is the fourth suspicious fire within the city limits within the past month.
Firefighters responded quickly to the blaze limiting the damage to the end of the building. Barrows is estimating the damage at $80-100,000 perhaps more if the integrity has been lost for the support beams.
Barrows is confident the county Fire Investigation Unit will identify the arsonist given its track record over the years.
He adds that the public should always be on the lookout for any suspicious activity. The response should be a 911 call or a call to the Fire Department (532-7432) or the Police Department (532-8141).
