Major Injuries Suffered In Hwy 4 – Copperopolis Accident
San Andreas, CA — Three Hayward residents suffered major injuries in a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 4 and O´Byrnes Ferry Rd. Sunday afternoon at 5:10.
19 year old Daniel Garza was stopped northbound on O´Byrnes Ferry Rd. when he inexplicably turned right into the path of an eastbound 1999 Chevy pickup driven by 35 year old Vincent Simard of Stockton. The truck was traveling at an estimated speed of 55-60mph.
CHP Officer Georgia Hiehle says major injuries were suffered by Garza, 23 year old Jeffrey Diego and Alyssa Taitague. Another passenger, Justin Diego, suffered moderate injuries. Garza, Jeffrey Diego and Taitague were life flighted to Modesto area hospitals. Justin Diego was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center and then transfered to Memorial North in Modesto. The extent of the major injuries suffered was not listed in the CHP report.
Simard and his passenger, 20 year old Garrett Goodman, also of Stockton, suffered only minor injuries and sought their own aid.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
