Copperopolis Man Fatally Injured In Hwy 4 Accident

Copperopolis, Ca — An unidentified 56-year-old man from Copperopolis has died as a result of injuries sustained during a single vehicle accident on Hwy 4 a mile and a east of O´Byrne´s Ferry Rd.

The man was traveling westbound, and for an unknown reason, drifted to the right edge of the roadway. He overcorrected his vehicle, and his red Nissan pickup went off the road and rolled over several times.

A 20-year-old passenger and a dog were also in the truck, but they did not sustain major injuries.

Hwy 4 was temporarily blocked during the noon hour, but traffic is again moving freely.

This marks the second traffic related fatality in Calaveras County this year. The initial fatality was 33 year old Donald James Hollingsworth of Mokelumne Hill. He died in a single vehicle accident January 5 on Jesus Maria Rd. north of Whiskey Slide Rd.
