Sonora, Ca — The 22nd annual Celtic Faire is taking place this weekend at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.
“I think you are seeing one of the largest crowds to ever attend the Celtic Faire,” said organizer Patrick Karnahan Saturday afternoon. “We filled up all the parking lots, and it has just been wonderful.”
Over the previous 10 years the event had been held in Calaveras County, and 2008 marks the return to Sonora.
Karnahan notes that this year there are more musical acts, re-enactments and other live entertainment.
The new venue also allows for spectators to have a better view of the popular jousting competition.
The Celtic Faire celebrates the cultures of Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall and Wales.
