Southard Captures Shull Award
Sonora, CA — Sonora High´s Steve Southard has been named winner of the Warren Shull Activities Director of the Year Award for the entire state of California.
Southard recently received the award before thousands of his peers at the Reno, NV banquet.
Wildcat Principal Todd Dearden says Southard has an incredible amount of experience (31 years at Sonora High School). He brings energy and excitement to the campus. Dearden adds that Southard doesn´t do a whole lot because the extremely well organized students take care of all the activities under his trained guidance.
Dearden states that many schools simply don´t have the high degree of morale and culture that S.H.S. does because those schools don´t have a Steve Southard as their activities director.
Dearden was impressed by the large volumne of Southard´s peers that congratulated him at the banquet for winning an over-due award.
Southard says he is truly blessed to be a Wildcat because the administration and staff have bought in to the principles of taking the time to see what truly motivates the students during their learning years.
Dearden closed his comments by stating that, “I´ve never seen anybody better at what he does.”
