Jail Funding To Highlight Both Supervisors’ Meetings

Sonora and San Andreas, CA — Applications for AB 900 jail funding from the state will be on the agenda for both the Tuolumne and Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today.

While Tuolumne County has elected to delay its proposed Law and Justice Center project, a resolution, nevertheless, will be put forth to apply for state funds.

At the Government Center in San Andreas, the Calaveras County Board will undoubtedly pass a resolution to have Sheriff Dennis Downum officially sign the application for state funding in the maximum amount for a small county, $30 million.

Both applications must be completed one week from today.

In addition to the jail funding issue, Tuolumne CAO Craig Pedro will discuss moving forward on an economic development powers authority and funding plan in a joint effort with the city of Sonora.
