Man Escapes Law Enforcement In Tuolumne County

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — On Tuesday afternoon the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Office received a phone call from a man following a 1983 Nissan Pickup truck on O´Byrnes Ferry Rd.

The caller was following the truck because he believed the driver to be a person wanted by law enforcement. When the pursued driver realized that he was being followed, he allegedly brandished a hunting knife in a threatening manner towards the caller.

The vehicles ended up near the trailer park at the Yosemite Junction, and the individual being pursued exited the truck and fled on foot. Deputies attempted to catch the subject when they arrived on scene, but had no luck. The CHP assisted with the search, as did State Parole.

The Sheriff´s Office believes it knows the identity of the suspect, but the name is being withheld pending confirmation. He is described as a late twenties male with brown hair and olive colored eyes. He stands around 6-2 and weighs an estimated 175 lbs. He was wearing a green or blue tank top shirt and blue jeans. The incident began shortly before 3pm.
