Sonora, CA — 25 year old Jason Thrift of Sonora was arrested Wednesday evening by Sonora Police officers and booked into the County Jail on false imprisonment, child endangerment/abuse, domestic batter and disrupting telephone line charges.
24 year old Ashley Cockeram and her five year old daughter were visiting Thrift at his residence.
Thrift would not allow Cockeram and her daughter to leave. Initially he blocked her path from exiting the house. He then took her keys and cell phone when she attempted to call for help.
According to the S.P.D. report, Thrift then grabbed Cockeram by her arms refusing to release her. When he did so and she tried to leave the residence again, he bear hugged both Cockeram and her daughter so hard they had difficulty breathing.
Finally he allowed them to leave whereupon she contacted the police department. Thrift was contacted at his home and arrested a short time later. He is currently on probation for domestic batter.
