Twain Harte Students Present Check To Law Enforcement
Twain Harte, Ca — Students at Twain Harte Middle School awarded $1,808.30 to area law enforcement agencies Friday afternoon in an effort to be proactive in preventing armed campus intruders.
To raise the money, students recruited sponsors and recently played a fund-raiser basketball game known as Knockout.
“It is really fantastic,” says Lt. George Ruckman of the Sheriff´s Office. “For law enforcement there is just no greater priority than the safety of our children throughout the community.”
The funding will help with the costs of training and purchasing equipment. The money will be split between the Sheriff´s Office, Sonora Police Department, Highway Patrol, Probation Department and Fish and Game Department.
The students are now challenging all other schools in the county to match or surpass the amount raised.
