Cogdill Pushes For Gold Star Family License Plates

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — When it comes to initiating a Gold Star Family license plate for the families who have lost loved ones in the military effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, Dave Cogdill is standing tall.

The Senate Minority leader is pushing the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, which will be meeting for the final time this year this afternoon, to hear SB-1455. Cogdill has co-authored the bill with Merced Republican Jeff Denham.

Under the leadership of Long Beach Democrat Alan Lowenthal, the committee has refused to hear the bill for two years. To date 479 Californians have lost their lives in the middle east military effort.

A similar bill passed the Assembly Transportation Committee Monday afternoon. It was authored by Sally Lieber, a Democrat from Mountain View.

Cogdill adds that no taxpayer dollars would be used for the production of the Gold Star Family license plates.
