Cold Springs, Ca — Overnight, fire crews were able to contain the vegetation fire that started at 3:30pm Friday afternoon in Cold Springs.

According to Pat Kaunert with the Stanislaus National Forest, the cause has been determined to be an escaped debris burn. The latest estimate is that the fire scorched approximately 20 acres. One house has been ruled a total loss, as it had $250,000 in damage. Two other homes sustained major damage, but were not considered a total loss. Two vehicles were also destroyed, as well as a boat.

Residents of the Cold Springs Subdivision that were evacuated to Black Oak Elementary have now been allowed to return to their homes, according to CAL Fire. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
