Fallen Peace Officers Remembered In Downtown Sonora

Sonora, Ca — Law enforcement officers from across Tuolumne County gathered at Courthouse Park in Sonora during the noon hour today to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The state of California lost seven peace officers in 2007, and the names were read off during the memorial ceremony. They are Deputy Manuel Villegas of the Riverside County Sheriff´s Department, Officer Robert Winget of the Ripon Police Department, Deputy Raul Gama of the L.A. County Sheriff´s Department, Officer Douglas Russell of the CHP Office in Placerville, Officer Robert Dickey of the CHP Office in Winterhaven,

Officer John Miller of the CHP Office in Dublin, Officer Sergio Carrera Jr. of the Rialto Police Department, Detective Kent Haws of the Tulare County Sheriff´s Department and Detective Vu Nguyen of the Sacramento County Sheriff´s Department.

Among those speaking at today´s ceremony were Tuolumne County Sheriff Jim Mele, Sonora Police Chief Mace McIntosh, CHP Commander Mike Ayala, U.S. Federal Agent Charlie Fullams and Officer Kenny Calhoun with the Sierra Conservation Center.
