District Attorney’s Office Remains One Busy Locale

Sonora, CA — Monday it was determined the Slawinsky brothers, Robert Earl and Paul Curtis, are scheduled for a trial readiness conference June 9 at 8:30am in Department One (Judge Eric DuTemple) of Tuolumne County Superior Court.

They are being charged with the first degree murder of Carl Stephen Knight on April 6th. Knight´s body sitll has not been recovered. It is thought to be located in Lake Don Pedro. The Slawinsky brothers and Knight became involved in a physical confrontation that went too far. Sheriff´s investigators have yet to determine whether Knight was dead when his body entered Lake Don Pedro.

And 23 year old Ricky Joseph Chavez, Jr. of Oakdale has been formally charged with two felonies: evading a law enforcement officer causing death and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

22 year old Holly Corinne Hanson of Oakdale was killed in the early morning hours of May 15th at the Hwy. 108-Stockton Rd. intersection when the Chavez vehicle went over an embankment. Both occupants were ejected. Chavez fled on foot but was quickly captured by CHP officers.
