Sonora, CA — With a 4.23 grade point average, Maija Swanson served as the valedictorian Thursday evening as Sonora High graduated its 2008 senior class of 270.
Swanson admitted it took a lot of hard work to achieve that grade point average and she felt honored to be named class valedictorian.
Her fondest memories of high school include cheering at the football and basketball games, hanging out with friends and going to the Prom, Sadie Hawkins and the formal dances.
Swanson will enroll at Santa Clara University in the fall studing anthropology and pre-med with the hope of being a surgeon one day. She currently volunteers at Sonora Regional Medical Center and is hopeful of sitting in on surgeries this summer.
