North Mountain Fire Causing Heavy Smoke
Sonora, CA — The 500 plus acre North Mountain Fire in the Groveland Ranger District is causing heavy smoke in areas of the Mother Lode.
According to Stanislaus National Forest Public Affairs Officer Pat Kaunert the fire is located 19 miles northeast of Groveland and seven miles southwest of Hetch Hetchy in the Cherry Creek Drainage.
Kaunert adds that the fire represents absolutely NO danger whatsoever to any foothill community.
Resources on scene today include six 20 person hand crews, three engines, two helicopters and three fixed wing air tankers.
No tenative date has been set for containment of this fire.
Kaunert adds that crews are also fighting 10 other fires, all very small, in the Stanislaus National Forest.
