North Mountain Fire Surpasses 1,800 Acres … Spreads To Yosemite

Tuolumne County, CA — The North Mountain Fire in the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest now stands at 1,810 acres burned with 30 percent containment.
No definitive date has been announced for full containment.
Public Information Officer Jim Wilkins says the fire has moved into Yosemite. He adds the greatest difficulty is the extremely steep terrain.
On scene Sunday: 11 hand crews, 34 engines, two dozers, five water tenders, four helicopters and air tankers on order. A total of 494 firefighting personnel are on site.
Current cost of fighting this fire; $3 million.
