Sheriff’s Department Receives 5th Drive-By-Shooting Report
Valley Springs, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department says a fifth person has reported being shot at in the Valley Springs area during Tuesday’s string of drive-by-shootings.
Sgt. Dave Seawell says the latest report came from a 49-year-old man driving west on Hwy 26 near Silver Rapids at 6:10am Tuesday. The victim said he did not pass any vehicles or see any vehicles in the area. He did not suffer any injuries.
Running down the previous reports issued by the Sheriff’s Department; The first report occurred at 5:15am when the glass on a driver’s side of the vehicle was shattered by a bullet. The 37 year old female was on her way to work traveling north on Hartvickson Lane near Partridge Rd. The victim pulled to the side of the road and discovered a bullet hole in the driver side door just below the window. The victim reported she did not see any vehicles pass her.
A half an hour later a 49 year old female was traveling westbound on Hwy 12 near Evans Rd. when she heard a loud bang. The victim later discovered a bullet hole in the driver’s side door. The victim reported she had passed a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Hwy 12 but she could not provide a description.
10 minutes later a 52 year old female was traveling eastbound on Hwy 26 near St. Andrews Rd. when her vehicle was shot. Deputies recovered a bullet that had traveled through the vehicle’s hood and lodged in the engine compartment. This victim also reported a vehicle had passed her but she could not provide a description.
At approximately 10:50pm a 37 year old male was traveling westbound on Hwy 26 near Jenny Lind Approach Rd. when a bullet was fired through the driver’s side window exiting through the passenger’s side window. The victim stated he had passed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy 26 when his windows shattered. He immediately pulled to the side of the road noticing that the passing vehicle had stopped. He immediately fled the area and then contacted the Sheriff’s Department. No injuries have been reported.
The passing car was described by the last victim as a tan late model sedan. All available Sheriff’s Department resources are in the Valley Springs area today looking for the responsible party.
