Law And Justice Center Property Purchase Finalized

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — This morning the Tuolumne County supervisors unanimously approved a resolution (#130-09) that the county now owns the property that has been designated for the Law and Justice Center.

The purchase price for the Gardella Family property was $4.2 million. With escrow closing November 25, the county can now secure the $16 million grant funding from the Corrections Standard Authority. That will cover 76 percent of the total outlay for the Juvenile Detention Facility. The CAO’s office has yet to finalize the method or methods of financing the remaining $5 million for the facility’s total expenditure.

Pedro adds that the initial building on the property will probably not be realized until 2013 or 2014. The facility is scheduled to have a 30 bed capacity.
