Sonora, CA — Thanks to a AAA of Northern California donation Otto the Auto has arrived in the Mother Lode.
Otto is a robotic vehicle that will be used in Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador classrooms to teach young children about being safe in and around vehicles.
According to Safe Kids Tuolumne County Coordinator Kenny Hockett all the features of Otto are controlled remotely by a nearby operator/educator which provides an engaging and memorable learning experience for the children.
Examples would include seat belt and booster seat use, pedestrian safety and the dangers of playing in and around vehicles.
AAA originally used Otto for educational purposes but discontinued the program. Due to Safe Kids relationship with AAA, the non-profit was given the robot which would have cost Safe Kids several thousand dollars.
