Winter Weather Forecast For The Area Next Week
Winter weather will return to the Motherlode, beginning Tuesday evening and intensifying through Friday.
Expect heavy rain, mountain snow and breezy conditions during this time period.
Snow levels could drop down to 5000 feet by Wednesday morning and then as low as 4300 feet by Friday.
Snow accumulations up to three inches may be possible by Wednesday morning over the higher elevations. Heavier snowfall and accumulations are expected Thursday night. Six to eight inches of snow is possible in the Sierra by Saturday morning. A quarter of an inch of rain is possible in the Motherlode from Thursday night through Friday.
Currently, Highway 108 (Sonora Pass) is closed at Kennedy Meadows. Highway 4 (Ebbetts Pass) is closed at Mt. Reba turnoff. Highway 120 (Tioga Pass) is closed at Crane Flat.
