Supervisors Vote To Reorganize Behavioral Health

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Some major cuts were made to the Tuolumne County Behavioral Health Department Tuesday, including the elimination of the Assistant Health Director, Behavioral Health Program Manager, and a psychiatrist position.

The county is projecting that Behavioral Health will face a $770,000 deficit during the 2011/12 fiscal year and a $1.8 million deficit during 2012/13. It is due to cutbacks being handed down by the state.

The Supervisors were forced to layoff Assistant Behavioral Health Director Ann Robin and Behavioral Health Program Manager Betty Hoskins. The psychiatrist position is currently open and simply will not be filled. Currently employees will be asked to take on additional roles as part of the reorganization.

The final vote was 5-0.
