Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — U.S. Forest Service Special Agents and Fire Investigators have determined that “activities associated with recreation” caused the 6,000 plus acre Knight Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest.

The nearly $12 million fire started on July 26th. Officials say specific evidence regarding the origin of the fire is being withheld for investigative purposes, but say it was clearly a result of human activity.

Investigators are seeking help from anyone with information regarding vehicles or persons seen in the area of Forest Service roads 4N01Y and 4N01, on or before July 26th. The number for U.S. Forest Service Investigations is (209)-536-9829. Your call can remain anonymous.
