Two Key Issues Upcoming At Today’s Supervisorial Meeting

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Two key issues regarding county departments will be addressed at 1:30 this afternoon by Tuolumne CAO Craig Pedro and the supervisors.

Initially there will be consideration of approving a report on all Human Services Agency budgets including revisions to the Health Department’s budget and position allocations.

Pedro comments, “Agency Director Ann Connolly’s caseload is up due to the economy. Revenues are down but they are close to what we estimated so we’re basically holding our own in that area.”

When it comes to Behavioral Health, Pedro admits this is a troubled area. Under consideration there will be a reorganization of the department along with a reduction of personnel and associated layoffs.

“We are definitely going to experience shortfalls and as we look out into the future we can see that because of the state economy. We can see cuts in state programs resulting in a significant reduction in behavioral health over the next three years. We can manage it this fiscal year but as we move out into future years unless there’s a change there will be a significant impact on that program.”
