Much Cooler Weather Expected This Week

A cold front will move over the motherlode beginning late Monday night. The front will bring much cooler temperatures and windy conditions to the area.

The strong winds will blow from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. Winds of 25 to 35 should be expected in the motherlode. The Sierra summit could experience some wind gusts up to 70mph.

Highs in the motherlode will be no more than the mid 60’s both Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight temperatures by Wednesday morning, could fall to the mid 30’s.

Snow levels will drop from 6000 feet Monday night to 3500 feet by Tuesday morning. Little accumulation is expected and all scattered snow showers will end by Wednesday morning.

All local mountain passes remain open today, but you are encouraged to carry chains whenever you drive into the high country.
