Sonora High’s Homecoming Week Concludes Tonight

Sponsored by:

Sonora, Ca — School and town spirit will be on display in downtown Sonora this afternoon for the annual homecoming parade.

Third year Sonora High School Principle, Todd Dearden, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“There´s no question that it is a united town, united community, and the school is part of the community,” says Deardon. “The Sonora Police are willing to shut down a state highway to have a parade.”

The parade is essentially made up of the entire student body and will include floats, classic cars and the Golden Regiment Marching Band. Immediately following the parade, the band will perform a concert at Courthouse Park.

The parade is scheduled to begin on Washington Street sometime during the 2pm hour.

The Sonora High Wildcats will try and get back on the winning track this evening when they host Sierra (of Manteca) Timberwolves in their 2009 Homecoming game at Dunlavey Field.

The Homecoming Dance follows this evening’s football game.

Justin Flores and Steve Lee will be announcing tonight’s game on Star 92.7 FM, shortly after 7pm. The games are also streamed live on mymotherlode.com

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47, and 8:47am.
