Hit And Run Accident Results In Fatality
Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County suffered its 19th traffic related fatality of the year Monday evening in a hit and run accident.
45 year old Stacy Kay Stone of Sonora was walking home on the correct side of the roadway (facing traffic) when she was hit by a westbound vehicle on Tuolumne Rd. east of Terrace Drive. She later died of her injuries at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene. However the Highway Patrol has the passenger’s side mirror from the vehicle and is tracing its origin.
This past Thursday Ms. Stone (14800 block of Blue Bell Rd. West) was booked into the County Jail on suspicion of possessing drugs along with mesdemeanor charges of using and possessing drug paraphernalia. According to a deputy’s report from the Sheriff’s Office she was reportedly smoking methamphetamine when the deputy responded to a disturbance. Ms. Stone was hit while walking home following her release from the County Jail.
